- He rode far from his friends, a forsaken man,
- Alone;
- And he that eventide
- To Mary made his moan,
- And begged her be his guide
- Till some shelter should be shown.
from Gawain and the Green Knight, trans. by Brian Stone, 1959.- Alone;
Scaling many cliffs in country unknown.
At every bank or breach where the brave man crossed water,
He found a foe in front of him, except by a freak of chance,
And so foul and fierce a one that he was forced to fight.
So many marvels did the man meet in the mountains,
It would be too tedious to tell a tenth of them.
He had death-struggles with dragons, did battle with wolves,
Warred with wild men who dwelt among the crags,
Battled with bulls and bears and boars at other times,
And ogres that panted after him on the high fells.
Had he not been doughty in endurance and dutiful to God,
Doubtless he would have been done to death time and again.
Yet the warring little worried him; worse was the winter,
When the cold clear water cascaded from the clouds
And froze before it could fall to the fallow earth.
Half-slain by the sleet, he slept in his armour
Night after night among the naked rocks,
Where the cold streams splashed from the steep crests
Or hung high over his head in hard icicles.
So in peril and pain, in parlous plight,
This knight covered the country till Christmas Eve

TJ,
You were so sweet to us when we were having a crisis of faith, and we hope we can return the favor.
That is what Family is all about, sweetie. We love you and are worried about you. We have regained our strength, and a large portion of that credit goes to you. You have no idea how much your words meant when we needed them.
It's hard to feel lost. To feel that nothing is tied up in a neat little bow like we thought it would be one day. But the thing is, we have to pull all of those things to us, arrange them into what makes sense and comforts us, and even if the puzzle doesn't look quite right, it is still ok.
Just because it doesn't look like the picture on the box is not an issue.
Life is what we make it. Know you have friends who love you and want to help. Please, Please, know we are there for you.
We love you dearly.
Remember,
Pactum Serva.
L. and J.
TJ:
I'm so sorry to see you've been feeling down the past few days. Your words and kindness have done so much to help others, including me
.
I wish I could do something more than offer you words of support, encouragment & big giant internet hugs.......
Sometimes it takes awhile to find the path/road we are meant to take. Sometimes we do get a little lost or forced to take a detour or run off the road right into a ditch......but, we can find our way back, we can dig ourselves out .....
I have no doubt that you will do just that!!
Don't be so hard on yourself, love. Give yourself some time.
*sorry for rambling*
I hope you know how much I value your friendship and you. I love you!!!!
Hugs and Love,
Wendy

Thank you for visiting our blog and commenting about my post. Your words were so kind, so touching, my little heart went "Ohhhhh."
He WAS a lovely person. I only wish I'd been able to appreciate him more, but as most young people do, I took him for granted a lot. Actually I think I would've appreciated him more now; I understand so much more at 42 than I did at 22.
Thanks again, honey. I love you.
J
Good luck today.
I hope your interview goes well, the very best of luck to you.
